THEJAKARTAPOST.COM – The House of Representatives ranks the lowest among democratic institutions assessed in a recent survey, which concludes that the legislative institution has failed to make reforms even after 17 years of the Reform Era.
In the study commissioned by Jakarta-based pollster Poltracking, the House received the most complaints over poor performance from 1,200 respondents surveyed through face-to-face interviews in March.
The House received the highest dissatisfaction rate of 66.5 percent among the 11 institutions assessed, while political parties and the National Police ranked second and third with 63.5 percent and 55.9 percent in dissatisfaction levels, respectively.
“The House draws the highest dissatisfaction rate because lawmakers have failed to perform their essential functions regarding legislation, monitoring and budgeting,” Poltracking chief Hanta Yudha said on Tuesday.
The study also reveals that the Indonesian Military has the highest public approval rate, followed by the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPU) and the Supreme Court, which rank second and third respectively. (ebf)(++++)
